 A question that’s rolled off any football fanatic's lips is the question of who the greatest player of all time (GOAT) is, and no doubt the two most common answers in today's generation are Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Magicians, idols, and superstars these two players have set the bar at the very peak of footballing achievement and prowess breaking record after record and helping each of their respective clubs and international teams to triumph. This set of blogs will dive into these 2 unique players and try to figure out who is the better player and the real GOAT. 



This blog will look into the amazing goal tally both players possess and different statistics many football fans do not know. Ronaldo and Messi take both the number 1 and number 2 slot on the all-time top goals scored for clubs in history with Ronaldo sitting on a total of 724 goals and Messi on 715, as correct of 9th October 2023. Although Ronaldo has scored more career club goals, Messi takes the crown for the most club goals in a single season. Messi's best season saw him score 73 goals in the 2011-12 season whilst Ronaldo's best goal-scoring season came later in the 2014-15 season where he scored 61 goals. 


Both players have shown remarkable goalscoring consistency throughout their careers, for 8 seasons in a row Messi scored 38 goals and above all whilst being done in one of the top 5 hardest leagues in the world, the Spanish First Division. Ronaldo himself has proven his consistency in finding the back of the net by breaking the 30-goal barrier annually for 10 years in a row.
